Jandris Ground Face Blocks represent structural soundness, durability and fire resistance, along with aestheticaly appealing exposed natural aggregates. These units, available in normal weight, medium weight or light weight classifications, can be used in interior or exterior situations as a full finished wall, banding courses, or conbinations of these together with other concrete products such as split face or smooth face, etc.

Custom Colors and aggregates are available upon special request depending upon size of project.

The smooth ground face finish of these units adapts well in areas where a maintenance-free wall system is needed to blend or contrast with other building facades.

Fire Resistance

The durability, economics and beauty of Ground Face Block is also accompanied by its fire resitance characteristics. Based on the equivalent thickness method for measuring percent of solid material, these units reach up to a 4 Hr. Fire Rating.

Apperance & Tollerance

All Jandris Ground Face Blocks shall be sound and free of cracks or other defects that would interfere with proper placing of the unit or impair the strenght or performance of the construction.

However, minor cracks incidental to the usual method of manufacture, or minor chippin resulting from the customary methods of handling in shipment and delivery shall not be deemed grounds for rejection (ASTM C-90 part 8.1)

No overall dimensions (lenght, width or height) shall differ by more than 1/8-inch from specified dimension.

Ground Face Blocks are manufactured from natural aggregates which will vary in size and color as they are taken from the earth. These aggregates are monitored, but some variation is to be expected in color, surface texture, and exposure of aggregate.

It is recommended that a sample panel be erected on the job site to show color and texture, however, under most circustances, the samples are taken from a prior production run and therefore the blocks produced for the project could very slightly from the sample panel.

 

Coatings

When requried, Ground Face Blocks can be factory coated. THis protective coating brings out the brilliance of the ground aggregates as well as protects the block from the elements.

Whather or not the block is factory coated, it is recommended that the block, along with the motar joints, is coated in the field.

 

Protection & Storage

Ground Face Blocks shall be delivered to the jobsite on wooden pallets, covered with plastic, with non-staining protective cushion between finished faces. Store on level ground. Avoid double stacking.

 

AI/Assembly Installation

Installation

Laying of theunits shall be plumb, level, and true, as cansistant with the best masonry practices. Always use care when handling units so as not to damage faces or ship corners and edges. During installation, CMU's should be drawn from more than one pallet.

Clean Excess setting mortar off joints and block with a dry colorless cloth using care not to smear.

 

OM/Operation, Maintenance

Cleaning

Use absolutely no acid or acid based cleaners.

Exessive mortar stains can be removed by dry brushing and use of a spatula type tool. Dirt and dust can be removed through these the use of low pressure cleaning machine and clear water. Jandris cannot be responsible for material applied in th efield. It is strongly recommended that they are applied under strict adherence to the manufacturer's instructions and tested on a sample panel for approval.

Jandris, in conjunction with PROSOCO, has conducted tests to determine which product to use, depending upon the color and aggregate for cleaning. Please call our office for recommendations.
